Scratch Info

It took some time to understand how to work Scratch. I played around with the different tabs until I understood how to navigate my way through it. To make the different motions of scratch you use different scripts. There are ten different script tags for example there are looks, motions, control, and events. Each one of these scripts represents an action you can make your sprite do. There is another tab that is labeled "costumes." When clicking this tab it opens up to a variety of images that you can pick in order for your sprite to change positions. In that tab you can also color on the image you chose or download your own. Another tab is labeled "sound." The sound tab has files of different clips of sound. The sound I chose for my scratch was called bubbles. There are other sounds you can choose for example: streetcars, yelling, or a pop. You can record and download your own sound if you would like. There are many background choices you can change in order to make your scratch more interesting. I chose a ginger bread house for my background. There are also different sprites you can chose. In my scratch I used a cat, crab, beetle, bat, and butterfly.

Blog Post #2

During the html lesson I learned many different tags. Today I learned how to align paragraphs and bold font. I also learned how to change the title sizes. These tags were essential to making the website unique. The webpage is more chic and professional looking with these tags.

Thanksgiving with Images

file://studfilesrvr-01.students.rpsdistrict.local/2017/Meghan.Daley/ECS%20website%20part%20lesson%20%236.html

This is my webpage. It contains many different things. It has titles, paragraphs, bolded words, and even images! The task of this webpage was change four images and add them to an html lesson. The first picture I changed was an image of a man. I changed the height of the image from 340 to 110 and cropped the sides. The second image I changed was a elephant. I also changed the height of this image to make it longer and cropped the sides. The third image I changed was a funky cat. I changed the width of the image and cropped the length. The last image I had was a picture of a vampire. I left the standard height and width but changed the size by cropping the unnecessary background.

Intro to HTML

I used the W3schools website that helped my create a webpage. I used the tutorial to help me understand how to create a webpage and guide me through using tags. After I completed the tutorial I started personalizing my webpage. Once finishing the tags I saved it and re-opened it to see my webpage.

HTML Quiz

The HTML quiz was very challenging for me. I got a 10/25 on the quiz which may look bad but is pretty good for not learning most of the material. The ones I got wrong the most were the tags. I did not know how to insert links to tags. As we continue on with this unit I would like to learn more tags and expand my knowledge on computer science.

Secret Message part two

I viewed other students blog posts and decoded their secret messages. At first it was hard figuring out which symbols the other students used but eventually I got the hang of it. I decoded three students secret messages. The first student I decoded was Ashley's message. Her message said "erasers life." The second student I decoded was Meghan's, and he hidden message was "Meghan loves summer." The last student I decoded was Mia's hidden message. Her message said "corn on the cob." This was a good interactive activity. It taught students how to code and decode binary numbers, but at the same time it was fun and engaging.

20 Qs

In class today my partner, Meghan, and I answered 20Q. It was a fun interactive activity using the computer. We picked a category and answered questions about the topic trying to make the computer guess what we were thinking. The first category we chose was movies and the computer guessed almost all of the correct! Next category we chose was characters/names. The computer had a very hard time with this and did not guess any of them correctly. I thought the computer game was fun and had the computer thinking as well as the students.

Observating Blogs

During my free time I viewed other students artwork. I really enjoyed doing this because every blog post was a little different. Some of the blogs I viewed had burst of color while others were monotone. All the blogs were similar because each one was very symmetrical.

Creative Bat

This is an Image of a bat that I created with the bead app. This was a creative thinking project.

Rug Weave

I created a rug weave design on the computer. This design will be my third one I have created. After each new design I learn a little more about programming and efficiency. While creating the rug I looked for patterns and shortcuts. I figured out a way to cut off half the time it would take me to make the rug. I used triangles and rectangle to plot more points making it easier and faster for me. By using the triangles and rectangles I didn't have to plot each point. This was a fun and creative activity assigned by my teacher to have us look for shortcuts in designs.

Dog Weave Work

During this dog weave work activity I stumbled upon many challenges. As you can see there were many points needed to make this bead work. I used a helping tool to make it go by faster and easier. In the side bar there is an option to use 'rectangles,' by clicking on this you type in two different coordinates and it plots the area for you instead of having to plot each point. This saved me a lot of time when making my bead work. This activity showed me that there are always shortcuts to things and will help me in the future when I make more bead work.

Blog Two

Computers help us with our everyday life. They are the most brilliant gifts of science. Charles Babbage created a wonderful device. Computers helped develop countries faster. Babbage wrote a program that is essential for a computer. Speed, accuracy, reliability, and integrity are the main characteristics of a computer. Many of the routine activities today at home and in business are done by computers. A computer helps with modern day technology. The computer has been proven to be a reliable friend  of science, technology and industry. Most offices, shops, factories and industries use computers. The Internet helps store the information. The computer is useful to all. Telecommunication and satellite imageries are computer based. Computer has made the world a global village today, and helped advance modern day technology.

First Blogpost!!!

Hello! My name is Meghan Daley. I am a Junior here at RMHS, and am a member of national honors society. I also play volleyball for the highschool team. Being a student athlete can be very hard at times. It's hard juggling multiple loads of homework from each class. This year I decided to enroll myself in a business elective called Exploring Computer Science. I was lucky enough to receive an amazing teacher, Mrs. Connors, because already I know much more technological terminology then I ever would have in my life. By the end of the class I want to be able to know how my computer works and if broken how to fix it. I am looking forward for what is to come in this class.
